1892 Chromolithograph - Barbary Lion.  I found this print some days ago, it has a title in Spanish “León de Berberia”.  The word Berberia sounded like berber to me but I had no idea of what kind of lion it was.  After some research I found that it is a lion that has been extincted in the wild for about 90 years,  as the last wild Barbary Lion was killed in Morocco in 1922.  It originally ranged from Morocco to Egypt and this was one of the largest of the lion subspecies.  Panthera leo leo.  carambas
